We all are pursuing something or someone? If you doubt that or don’t know what you are pursuing, let me challenge you to think about two questions. Where do you spend your time? Where do you spend your money? An honest assessment of those two areas will be good indicators of what or who you are pursuing.
I am going to start this year by preaching on this subject of “Pursue.” Our Biblical text to guide our thinking will be the New Testament book of Philippians. I have been led to Philippians to help us with our theme “Pursue” because Paul knew what pursuing Christ looked like. His testimony of pursuing Christ is an ultimate example. Paul, before he was a believer in Christ, also knew what it was like to pursue the things of this world. Paul described that part of his life with a strong word—rubbish! So, Paul’s testimony is a powerful one. There is much to learn here in Philippians.
The messages will be in both our 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. worship services:
Jan 6 Pursue Christ—Philippians 1
Jan 13 Pursue Unity in the Church—Philippians 2
Jan 20 Pursue Christ Even More—Philippians 3
Jan 27 Pursue Joy—Philippians 4
