The sponge

Listen to today's passage

A pastor friend of mine shared a great illustration the other day. Bill took a hard, crusty sponge and put a drop of water on the sponge. He explained that not much happened to the sponge with just a drop. Later, he immersed the sponge in water so that the sponge was soaked. Then, he explained that now fully soaked, if squeezed, water would drip from the sponge. The lesson? If immersed in the Spirit of God, when squeezed, we will drip with the spirit of God. In other words, when squeezed, whatever is in us is surely going to come out of us.

From an earthly perspective, Mark 15 reveals that in a hundred ways Jesus is being squeezed. He is being squeezed by rejection, by ridicule, by sin, by agony, and by death. What comes out of Him? Blessings. Forgiveness. Joy. Peace. Power.

You are going to be squeezed today. What is going to come out of you?
