The Bible says that Jesus was tempted in all ways that we are tempted, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Knowing the kinds of temptations we face and the frequency of those temptations, this is a hard verse to ponder. Here in Matthew 4, we see evidence of Jesus being tempted.
The point that always stands out to me is the timing of the temptation. Right before Jesus began His earthly ministry, He faced one of His fiercest temptations. Do you see the lesson? Right before we are about to realize our greatest work comes our greatest test. Satan wants to throw us off our pace. Satan wants to steal what God has planned for us. You see, temptation may not be a sign of our weakness, it might be the sign of our strength. The frequency and the fervency of our temptation may be a signal to the kind of work God is getting ready to do in us and through us.
Let’s pray that we meet that test so that God might use us for great things.
